Hemorrhoids are basically blood vessels which are swollen in and around the anus. They can cause problems like itching, great pain and the most severe being bleeding. Bleeding hemorrhoids can cause blood to be present in stools. The most threatening fact is that bleeding hemorrhoids can be a symptom of rectal cancer.

Causes of Bleeding Hemorrhoids

Bleeding of hemorrhoids can be caused due to several reasons. The most common cause of bleeding of hemorrhoids is the standing position. Bleeding happens because in a particular standing position it is possible that the blood above the rectum exerts pressure on the rectal and anal areas. Other causes of hemorrhoid blood loss are as follows:

1) Improper bowel habits
2) Constipation
3) Diarrhea
4) During pregnancy periods
5) Obesity
6) Frequent straining when having a bowel movement.

However, it is possible that some people do not show any of these problems but still have bleeding hemorrhoids.

Treatment

Treating bleeding hemorrhoids can be easy. There are several methods to restrict bleeding hemorrhoids. The methods are as follows:

1) In the traditional means of treatment, an individual suffering from bleeding hemorrhoids is advised to take two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water during every meal.
2) Mixing half ounce of heated lard with a teaspoon of dram of Calomel has showed a definite decrease in hemorrhoid bleeding.
3) Patients suffering from bleeding hemorrhoids are recommended to have a large intake of cranberries.
4) Horse chestnut capsules have been found to be extremely helpful in reducing bleeding hemorrhoids. They contain Aescin which strengthen the walls of the veins and thereby reduce the bleeding.

Conclusion

Hence, though bleeding hemorrhoids sounds very grave and difficult to cure, there are simple treatments which can stop bleeding. Patients must take medical advice and treatment without wasting much time. They must ensure that no time is lost between identifying the disorder and initiating the treatment.
