The patient may feel a very brief sensation of heat, but it is normally not painful. Therefore the anesthetic is generally not given to the patient. The Hemorrhoids coagulation works on the same principle of laser treatment. After the treatment most patients return to a normal lifestyle the same day, but the heavy straining or lifting should be avoided.
